Yeshua - The Passover Lamb of God

Women are an integral part of the Easter story. Three women in particular did not abandon Jesus in His hour of need. Writer and theology student Melissa Bone invites us to take a closer look at the women who stood by Jesus throughout His crucifixion and resurrection.

“Three in one” – is not “funny math.” It’s the name Christians use to describe the kind of God they encounter in Scripture, says Christopher R.J. Holmes, of Providence Theological Seminary. “The worship of the Christian community is transformative precisely because it is rooted in the hearing of a very special story, the story of a crucified and risen Lord.”

Our crucified Lord is known in Scripture as “the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" Throughout the Old Testament He is represented as the Passover Lamb, yet, in the New Testament He has acquired an additional dimension — one of triumph. An article in The Chosen People’s magazine traces the Lamb’s identity throughout Scripture.

He was the Son of God who died for us – all of us – emphasizes Michael Coren who calls himself a “cynical and experienced person.” That truth nevertheless unexpectedly changed his life one night as he sat watching television, unable to sleep.

To celebrate the Easter season, Imago is holding a special lecture at the University of Toronto on The Saint John’s Bible, the first handwritten, illuminated Bible commissioned in 500 years. A replica of the Gospels and Acts will be on view following a public lecture on April 16, 2009.

On behalf of The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada and, have a blessed Easter with your family and loved ones. As you take time to rest and be refreshed, we invite you to check out more articles and news stories on our homepage.

Happy Easter!
