Sharing the Word with Technology

What? You don’t blog? Come on! This is the 21st century!

These days technology is part of life. There are 70 million blogs in cyberspace. They thrive for every possible reason. It used to be that a chosen few had an opportunity to be heard, but now, says journalist Denyse O’Leary, blogging allows people to bypass the media and have a voice on issues. According to others, church leaders are discovering that blogs also have a tremendous way of expanding a ministry.

For instance, Greg Gordon, founder of the website SermonIndex, makes classic sermons of historic value available online. This week we are featuring a SermonIndex audio sermon, The Sin of Silence – an important message for our generation on the need to speak out for truth and righteousness when it is necessary to do so.

Greg has also organized two revival conferences internationally that will be broadcast via Internet for those who can’t make it to Georgia and Scotland. What’s unique about these conferences? They are free to attend, the venues are offered free of charge, and speakers, like Henry Blackaby, are covering their own costs to participate.

It might be a simple technology for sharing God’s Word, but it’s effective.  Bus Stop Bible Studies are the inspiration of David Harrison of Scarborough, Ont. David thought faith was for “nuts” like Aunt Barbara, until he needed God to bail him out. Now he is sharing his faith with the world, and the world is receiving it.

Also, technology is important at King’s Christian Collegiate in Oakville, Ont. Teachers use SmartBoard technology combined with interactive software to enhance learning, but what do students like best about their classroom experience? The teachers themselves! Doesn’t that go to show you that you can gain the whole world through technology, but its value as a tool is in the hands of the soul that implements it?

Please enjoy these selections, and scroll down for more.
