Make Him Buy the Cow!

There's an old saying, "Why would a man buy a cow if he can get the milk for free?" Barbara Kay sees in it a parallel to marriage, especially since a recent study indicates that commitment to marriage results in a better relationship. In response to the saying, she suggests, Make Him Buy the Cow!

Somehow, lifelong marriage commitments reflect God's glory, and the victory is worth celebrating. This week invites readers to forward names and wedding anniversary photos of couples who have been married 60 years or more. Faith Today magazine extended the same invitation to their readers (see Celebrating Long Marriages), and they responded enthusiastically.

On another note, Christians are out of the closet and into the political arena. The same-sex marriage issue turned many Evangelicals into political activists, says the writer of Onward Christian Voters, and adds, it may change Canadian politics forever.

Another theme this week—Big Brother! Some of the world's most notorious violators of human rights (China, Cuba, Iran, Brazil and several African states) requested that the U.S. relinquish control of the Internet. The E.U. has agreed, and U.S. will have no choice but to acquiesce (see the article Control of Internet Being Taken Away from U.S. for Questionable Reasons). Will it mean monitoring of our communications (see related article Internet Censorship: Is It Possible?)? It could soon happen in Canada (see Bill Would Permit Government to Monitor Emails, Chat and Cell Phones and Knock on the Door).

Be sure to share God's love with your neighbours this week!

Blessings in Christ,
