Jihadis Aren't Just Targeting Christians and Jews

Some serious issues in the news this week have raised discussion. Last Friday a terrorist cell plotting an assault against Southern Ontario targets was exposed. Why is this surprising? asks Lorne Gunter. Islamic jihadis are not just targeting Christians and Jews. They are targeting pluralists and secularists as well—anyone that ideologically hinders them from creating a worldwide Islamic empire (see the article It Was Only a Matter of Time). Also, most recently, the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) adopted an unprecedented anti-Semitic motion that Michael Coren calls more anti-Israel than views held by the Fatah, President Mahmoud Abbas, and several Arab governments. Coren expands on the relationship between Arabs that call themselves Palestinians and the modern Jewish state (see Why CUPE's Boycott Is Shameful).

It is also worth noting that the B.C. government has decided to include more gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered issues in the school curriculum, and to make opting out difficult for students who do not wish to take these courses (see B.C. Government Agrees to Add Homosexuality into School Curriculum). On the other hand, in spite of the assault on education and family values, some Christians are finding creative ways to share their values in the classroom (see Serving Faithfully in Public Schools).

And some good news!

Directed by their faith in Christ, the First Nations People believe that reconciliation among Canada's native people will have a positive impact on Canada and the Canadian government (see Rewriting History: First Peoples in Canada Take Their Place). The Christian faith is also touching the highest levels of the Paraguayan government. Wife of Paraguayan president Nicanor Duarte, recently a guest with Campus Crusade for Christ Canada in Abbotsford, shared her testimony of passionate faith in Christ (see Lunch with "Daughter of God").

Please take a moment to check out these and other good stories below. Have a great week!
