Praying for God’s Blessing Upon Oakville
Fashion designer Linda Lundstrom addressed the 24th Annual Prayer Breakfast in Oakville, Ontario.

Even life’s hardships must be seen as a gift, and part of God’s plan for our lives, said fashion designer Linda Lundstrom, keynote speaker at the 24th annual Oakville Prayer Breakfast, held in December at the Oakville Conference Centre.

Among the head table guests at the Oakville Prayer Breakfast were (from the left); Regional Chair Gary Carr, Dr. Linda Williams, Mike Reinders, guest speaker Linda Lundstrom, Kelita, Oakville Mayor Rob Burton, Hank Reimer and John Sawyer.

Sharing her personal story of growing up in a Northern Ontario community filled with racism toward Native People, and then dealing with challenges in business, she said that “much of my faith journey is not so much about my faith in God as it is about God’s faith in me.

“As I was going through struggles, I began to see how God was answering my prayers, and that some of the greatest gifts in life can only be seen through our own tears.”

The event including prayer, offered by Mike Reinders, for all aspects of leadership within the community – for those who provide government, policing, firefighting, health care, education, business and commerce.  Scripture readings were given by Jaclyn Peluso, a grade 12 student at St. Thomas Aquinas, and by Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr.

In his welcoming message, Oakville Mayor Rob Burton asked citizens to heed the words of Jeremiah and “seek the peace and prosperity of the city” by praying for all who are involved in public service.
