The Unity that Brings Authority
It will take a representation of the whole body in the nation, functioning together in one accord to see our nation transformed. Unity will remove the veil from the eyes of unbelievers.

"I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me" (John 17:20-23).

God is beginning to give us a greater revelation of the power of unity to release authority that He might re-establish His government in the Church and, through us, change our nation.

… no one church will transform a city and no one ministry or denomination will transform the nation.

We all understand the truth that unity is critical to having authority in our homes. When a husband and wife are not in agreement, their authority is weakened and what God wants to do in their family is compromised. Promises of God—prophetic words—will not come to pass without that foundation of unity and agreement by the authority in the home.

The same is true in our churches. If the Lord gives a word to the church but the elders—the leadership team—do not fully agree on it, will this word come to pass? Maybe to a measure, but not to its fullness. Why? Because unity releases an authority to see the purposes of God established.

Now if a couple, who have unity in the home, are part of a church board, does the unity they have in their home give them the authority to bring the purposes of God to pass in their church? No, because they only represent part of the authority, not the whole. For God's purposes to be fulfilled, they must come into agreement with the rest of the elders.

And this is why no one church will transform a city and no one ministry or denomination will transform the nation. Because true authority will only be found when at least a representation of the many gatekeepers (churches and ministries) in the city or nation come together into one accord. It will take a representation of the whole body in the nation, functioning together in one accord to see our nation transformed.

And that's what Jesus said in His prayer in John 17. Unity in the Body of Christ will release an authority that will remove the veil over the eyes of the unbelievers in our nation that they might see Jesus, the One whom the Father has sent.

Prayer focus and practical actions

1) Let us ask the Lord to examine our hearts to see if there are any hindrances we have to accepting other members of the Body of Christ. Sometimes hurts, disappointments or offences can creep in and subtly cause us to separate ourselves from others in our hearts (see Psalm 139:23-24, Matthew 5:21-24). Whatever the Lord reveals to you, commit that you will do your best to rectify any division that may have resulted.

2) Let us pray that God will give revelation to the leadership of the church in your city of the need to walk in corporate unity. Find out who some of the other pastors/leaders are in your city and commit to pray for them.

3) Let us pray that God will cause the church body across our nation to realize what the enemy is stealing from us through division and disunity. Let us rise up and declare to the Lord—"Lord we will not deny you the longing of your heart that you prayed for in John 17 We believe and declare that the church in Canada is coming into the true unity of the Father and the Son."
