Christmas is about Christ

Christmas is not about money, material things or extravagance. It is about love personified. It is about Jesus being the embodiment of God's love for the world. This is what we celebrate!

The kind of love that we, the human race, are capable of expressing is for the most part conditional and governed by emotion. God's love is neither of these things. His love shows no partiality, nor can it. It does not show love here and withhold it there. What it is to the one, it is to the other. His love knows no distinction and has no boundaries. It is the same all the time toward everyone, everywhere. God's love, being altogether perfect, is always fair and just. It cannot stop being what it is, for it is God Himself. God is love (see 1 John 4:8).

God wants us to demonstrate our love for Him by showing love toward people around us—to our neighbours, and yes, even to those that we may not be particularly fond of. By doing this we fulfill the two greatest commandments: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbour as yourself" (Matthew 22:37–39).

We must challenge ourselves daily to walk in the 'God' kind of love.
