Jeff Somers Band

A Canadian worship band with a "tight and groovy sound that commands both attention and head-bobbing."

Worship. Period. This is the slogan of the Moncton, New Brunswick young adult worship movement called "The Spot" and the driving value behind Jeff Somers Band, who came together through this event and still lead it to this day.

Jeff Somers Band

With a rock edge, an emphasis on melody and lyrical content, and influences ranging from David Crowder Band and Chris Tomlin, to U2 and Coldplay, JSB has a unique yet familiar sound. They are unapologetically a guitar band and whether chiming out a unique revamp of a worship standard or offering one of their fresh originals, their tight and groovy sound commands both attention and head-bobbing.

After the amicable departure of Dave "Cobra" Yanofsky (keys) and Dennis Prescott (lead guitar, now of "The Silent") for personal and professional reasons, JSB consists of Jeff "Sunny" Somers (lead vocals and guitar), and original members Tim "T-Bone" Richardson (bass), and John "No Nickname" Arsenault (drums), joined by recent additions Jason "J" Muir (guitar) and Jamie "JamCam/Top Gun" Camers (lead guitar).

2006 brings the completion and release of JSB's first full-length album The Origin of Moonlight, a self-produced project of original material, receiving much positive buzz since its limited release in the fall of 2005. The first single, Poetry in Motion, was featured on CMC Distribution's Launch: Ignition, and it hit the top ten at Canadian Christian Radio in February 2006.

What does the future hold for Jeff Somers Band? They are quick to point out whose decision that is. Jeff remarks, "I struggle with the role of ambition in a worship band. After all, we are trying to draw attention to God, not really ourselves, hence the album's "moon" theme. That being said, we all would love to continue to use the gifts God has blessed us with to further His glory and we enjoy it immensely. Wherever He leads we'll be quick to follow."

Both The Origin of Moonlight and Launch: Ignition are available at Christian retailer stores across Canada. Go to to find a retailer near you.

CMC Distribution, located in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, is the world's largest distributor of Christian music outside of the USA. It services Canadian Christian retail stores with music and video products.
