Out of Step with Today's "Morality"

Only the Bible can be our standard. The idea that anything is permissible under the Charter of Human Rights is contrary to Scripture.

Some people in governmental leadership positions say that people like me are out of step with the times. I would have to agree with them. I never did intend to keep instep with the changing morality times of our day. I believe our Governments both now and in the last ten years have allowed our Canadian values to be watered down to meet the pressures of minority groups who are very vocal in pushing for their views.

… I am very concerned about the challenges we as Canadian citizens have left for our children and grandchildren to face.

I believe part of the problem for this situation is also the responsibility of the Christian churches as they seem to only speak up when they are threatened by promotions on same sex marriage, abortion and human rights. The issue on same sex marriage should have been fought on the biblical traditional standard set out by the Holy Bible not on the Charter of HumanRights. The Charter of Rights is man made and has value but on biblical issues, there would be no argument as to what is right. Man and woman were created to honour God by following His rules, multiply and replenish the earth. He didn't create two men or two women to do this. He created one man and one woman to do this.

I respect the right for men and women to choose how they will live. What they look to each other for is their business in the home. However, we as a people and the leadership of Canada have taken the Bible and the Lords prayer out of schools, the churches have not as a whole (few exceptions) passionately proclaimed the truth of the Bible that everyone is going to die, and there are only two places where you can end up: heaven or hell. Biblically speaking, the rules are very clear and how you follow them will determine where you will end up.

This generation of children I believe, because of our leadership (government and churches) are not taking this statement seriously and therefore thinking there is no cost to pay for the idea that anything is permissible under the Charter of Human Rights. This is contrary to the teachings of the Holy Scriptures.

Of course I am a 73 year-old man, married to the same wife for more than 50 years and may sound old fashioned, but I am very concerned about the challenges we as Canadian citizens have left for our children and grandchildren to face. I believe we were created to be part of the solution, but instead we are more focused on the problem. Its time we start giving back to the next generation a more stable and honourable way of life, or life will continue to go downhill to the point where there will be no more standard.

Thank you for taking the time to read this expression of love for our country and I will continue to pray for our Government and church leadership.

Bob Poley, Moncton, N.B.
