Thousands to Gather in Vancouver this SummerTheCRY event is scheduled in Vancouver on August 15th, the 40th Anniversary of Woodstock.by Staff, TheCRY40 years ago on August 15th, 1969 a movement started. Thousands of young people descended on a farmer's field outside of New York in the spirit of sexual immorality and rebellion in a time that came to be known as the sexual revolution. Woodstock marked a generation and changed the history of nations.
Biblically 40 years marks the close of a season. |
This summer, exactly 40 years after Woodstock, thousands of young, and young at heart, will descend on Vancouver, British Columbia, to cry out to God for a new movement in Canada and the nations of the earth. Biblically 40 years marks the close of a season. With this in mind, TheCRY team believes God is on the move across Canada and wanting to bring an end to a season of immorality, perversion and rebellion by ushering in something totally new. We believe He wants, and already is, ushering in a movement that will baptize a generation with the spirit of holiness and passion for JESUS.
TheCRY is not like anything most Christians have ever experienced. It is a full day of dynamic prayer, worship and fasting with thousands of other believers. Though there are always well known worship bands and ministers that are leading throughout the day, names and bands are not advertised.
The leadership of TheCRY explains this saying, “Our desire is that people would not come because we have marketed big names or Christian celebrities (though we are not necessarily opposed to that in other settings), we want people to come to meet with one big name, Jesus Christ, and to CRY out for this awesome nation that He loves and is asking for [Psalm 2]...” TheCRY is a grass roots interdenominational and intergenerational movement of those who are passionate for Jesus and believe in the power of prayer and fasting to impact Canada for righteousness sake.
TheCRY Vancouver marks a growing movement of mass prayer gatherings in Canada; it will be the 8th CRY across Canada over the last three years, with previous CRYs in cities including Ottawa, Gatineau, Edmonton, Iqaluit, Toronto, and St. John's Newfoundland. Participants have expressed that they believe Canada is in a very significant time of history where our prayer and actions will affect the nation for generations to come.
Prayer is a good idea at any time, but, with the political and economic shakings that both Canada and the globe have experienced in recent months, they are likely right regarding the significance of this particular season.
Just months before the nations of the earth come to Vancouver for the 2010 Olympics, GOD TV will be broadcasting TheCRY Vancouver live across the world to a potential audience of half a billion people. The church in Canada, and through media the global Church, has the opportunity to pave the way in prayer for what has historically been a magnet not only for tourism and patriotism, but for corruption, sex trafficking, and organized crime. Who knows but that we have been called for such a time as this, to stand in the gap on behalf of Vancouver and Canada at a critical time in history? Throughout the day prayer will be brought for a variety of issues: harvest and revival, family and sexual morality, life, righteousness in government, the economy, unity in the church and more.
With answers to prayers from previous CRYs being published in newspapers across Canada in the weeks and months following, we have seen too much not to believe that God will do something massive on August 15th.
With both of these things in mind: the summer of '69 and the coming of the 2010 Olympics - TheCRY is calling the Church in Canada to arise and shine. Will you come and join with thousands of believers for a full day of prayer, fasting and worship in Vancouver believing God to turn the tide in our generation and release His presence in the midst of the 2010 Olympics?
